Throughout the year, the Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts (BOPA) seeks visual, literary and performing artists to participate in large-scale festivals and special events. Now, artists and cultural organizations can visit one place to learn about current calls for artists, upcoming projects and arts-related events.

RFA for Reading Is Fundamental: Reading Corner Mural

Reading Is Fundamental (RIF) and Baltimore Office of Promotion & the Arts (BOPA) are requesting applications from Baltimore City-based mural artists for an inspiring, education-based mural in time for the new school year!

Reading Is Fundamental (RIF) is committed to creating a nation of lifelong readers by inspiring the joy of reading among all children, putting them on the path to becoming skilled readers. We provide free, high-quality content to engage children, educators, families, and literacy advocates in the solution to the U.S. literacy crisis – so that every child has the fundamentals for success. As the nation’s leading children’s literacy nonprofit, RIF has provided nearly 430 million books and reading resources to nearly 190 million children since 1966, impacting generations of children.

The 2024 Baltimore Book Festival

The Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts (BOPA), in partnership with the City of Baltimore, Waverly Main Street, Red Emma’s, and Peabody Heights Brewery, is excited to plan the 2024 Baltimore Book Festival.

Join us from Friday, September 27 to Sunday, September 29, 2024, in and around Waverly Main Street for this special event. This year marks not only the return of the beloved Baltimore Book Festival but also its 25th anniversary!

  • Application opens: Monday, July 15, 2024
  • Application closes: Wednesday, July 31, 2024 (Late submissions will not be considered)
  • Notice of application status:  Week of August 12, 2024
  • Accepted exhibitor contract and fee due: Friday, September 6, 2024
  • The Baltimore Book Festival:
    • Saturday, September 28: 10 AM – 8 PM
    • Sunday, September 29, 10 AM – 6 PM
